MAMa Loves You

Josiah Grant’s Mama Loves You is a people-driven project blending documentary and portrait-style photography to celebrate the profound bond between mothers and sons across a wide age range. Participants are photographed in diverse settingsβ€”some in their personal spaces, others in public or chosen environmentsβ€”to reflect their unique dynamics and individuality.

The project's inspiration stems from a personal void: the absence of the opportunity to photograph his own mother. Initially conceived to honor her love, the project has evolved into a broader mission to appreciate and celebrate the beautifully complex relationships between mothers and sons.

This work deepens Grant’s connection to photography, blending the roles of artist and observer to create images that resonate with all involved. Ultimately, Mama Loves You seeks to tell authentic stories, inspire reflection, and serve as a meaningful gift to participants and viewers alike.

"They're my sons, my best friends, my everything."

β€œWe support each other the same way God has supported us.”

"We're doing life together. I learn from him and he learns from me."

β€œSeeing him grow has been the greatest joy!”

"They keep me going. I love them endlessly."

β€œEvery time I walk in here, I feel my son.”

β€œI love my sons. I want the best for them. They deserve everything.”
